As a shunting attendant, you are responsible for preparing and assembling freight trains.
We are looking for you as a career changer for retraining as a shunting attendant (f/m/d) for DB Cargo AG at the Seevetal site on 01.05.2025. During the 6-month in-house retraining program at the Hamburg training location, we will prepare you for your future job entry.
What to expect during the retraining program:
- The retraining program is full-time (39 hours/week) with an attractive salary
- As part of the retraining, you will complete various theoretical modules in small training classes with approx. 15 participants at our qualification center in Hamburg
- In the practical phases, you will work with your colleagues in the company and gain insights into everyday working life at your future place of work in Seevetal
- You will receive a tablet with digital teaching materials for learning right from the start
After your retraining, you will take on the following tasks:
- Together with the locomotive shunting driver, you will assemble our freight trains in the shunting yards for the line runs
- In addition, you will couple and uncouple the wagons of our incoming and outgoing trains and secure parked wagons
- You connect the brake systems on the train, carry out brake tests and visual inspections and take care of freight and accompanying documents
- In cooperation with the engine shunting driver, you will deliver or collect individual wagons from our customers as part of service runs
- During shunting journeys, you reliably support the engine shunting driver in observing the route
Your profile:
- You have successfully completed school and have already gained professional experience, e.g. as a production worker, construction helper or warehouse worker
- Your medical and psychological suitability will be checked by a company doctor during the selection process
- You enjoy physical work and like being out in the fresh air
- You always work conscientiously and look forward to working in a team
- You are comfortable working shifts and rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays
