Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information
As the supervisory authority of the state of Berlin, we strengthen the implementation of data protection requirements in practice. As the independent highest state authority, we examine and advise Berlin companies, associations and authorities on data protection and freedom of information issues. From July 1, 2024, we are looking for a permanent position for Department III:n
Clerk:in (m/f/d)
- Pay grade/remuneration group: A10, E10 (development opportunities up to A12, E12)
- Full-time: 40 or 39.4 hours per week
These tasks await you:
Independent processing of preliminary proceedings on possible data protection violations by companies
Processing of complaints from citizens in accordance with Art. 77 GDPR with support
Examination of questions of responsibility
Advising citizens on the lodging of complaints pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR
Processing inquiries from citizens regarding data protection
Involvement in the implementation of audits and on-site inspections
Cooperation with other national and European data protection supervisory authorities
You have:
Formal requirements:
Officials:
- Career requirements for the first entry level of career group 2 of the career specialization general administrative service, career branch non-technical administrative service
- Completed studies as a Diplom-Verwaltungswirt (FH) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the fields of administrative science or law, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or a comparable course of study
Tariff employees:
- Completed studies (Diplom FH or Bachelor) in the field of law, administrative sciences or comparable
Technical requirements:
- Knowledge of administration and administrative law
- Interest in information technology and confident handling of office communication media and the Internet
- Basic knowledge of German and European data protection law (GDPR, BDSG, BlnDSG) and a keen interest in data protection issues
- General legal knowledge (civil, contract, liability, procedural, litigation, commercial and corporate law) as well as written and spoken English
External requirements:
- Resilience, interdisciplinary thinking, communication skills and service orientation
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and willingness to be deployed flexibly within the authority in different areas of work
- Willingness to perform, learn and change, goal and result orientation, organizational skills, ability to cooperate as well as diversity and migration society competence

The Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information sees itself as a family-friendly employer.
